Methods and means of constructing a new generation of absolute angle encoders designed with modern components are presented. The collimation and reflex circuits of the devices are described and their basic properties are analyzed. Computational algorithms for processing information and estimating the errors of the devices and results of laboratory tests of the metrological characteristics of experimental models of the devices are presented.
