Laws governing the differences between the spectrum of the true profile and that of the measurement signal are found. A simple method of recovery of the spectrum of the true profile from the existing spectrum of the measurement signal is proposed. By means of the method it is possible to perform measurements of the form of profiles having low or substantial deviations from roundness without exact centering.
