Spectral estimates of the signal parameters of laser Doppler measuring systems

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

The characteristics of the spectral estimates of the signal parameters of homodyne and heterodyne laser Doppler vibrometers, namely, the frequency deviation and the frequency modulation index with respect to the “instantaneous” spectrum, are investigated. Numerical modeling is used to obtain the dependence of the systematic error of the spectral estimates on the signal parameters and the processing algorithm. It is shown that, for the signal models considered, the wavelet-analysis algorithm gives the best estimation quality compared with the “instantaneous” spectrum method.
