Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

An identifying criterion for the initial stage of acceleration, expressed in the form of the maximum of linear acceleration, is established on the basis of an analysis of the results of a numerical simulation of the acceleration of vessels. The time position of the linear acceleration maximum is found to correspond to the stage on which the vessel’s screw attains maximum revolutions. In a numerical experiment, it is shown that the precision of the radar technology used in detecting this maximum is acceptable for the purpose of logging of the initial stage of acceleration of a sea-going vessel.
