Results from theoretical and experimental studies of the effect of thermal shock on membrane-type transducers are presented. It is shown that the thickness of the membrane, its rigid center, and sealing exert a powerful effect on the gradient of the temperature field measured along the radius of the membrane. Recommendations intended to reduce the influence of thermal shock on a transducer are given.
