Abstract
Analysis of the error for a range finder using the maximum probability method for estimating the range is provided. The effect of noise interference, nonlinearity of the modulation characteristic of the range finder transmitter, parasitic amplitude and phase modulations are evaluated by means of computer simulation. Comparative analysis is given for algorithms of frequency measurement whose use makes it possible to exclude anomalous errors in using the maximum probability method.
