Abstract
A brief analytic survey of studies concerned with the use of complete information about a given object confined in a wave field is given. It is shown that because of the development of modern circuitry, CCD arrays and computers, as well as the phase shifting method, a method that was designed initially for automation of interference measurements, it is now possible to obtain new types of images that are absent in classical optics.
