Abstract
We report the results of theoretical and experimental investigations to determine how the design and geometrical parameters of the cutting part of taps affect the dynamic characteristics and accuracy of thread cutting. Our investigations identified the main mechanisms that change the force characteristics during thread cutting. This makes it possible to determine measures to increase the accuracy and stability of thread cutting with taps.
