The prospects for developing standard thermocouples of pure metals

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Abstract

Thermocouples with electrodes of pure metals - platinum, gold, and palladium, which are superior in accuracy and stability to standard platinum-rhodium alloy thermocouples, are considered. It is shown that a gold–platinum thermocouple may be an alternative to a high-temperature platinum resistance thermometer.
