The Trend Toward the Use of Thicker Continuous-Cast Slabs for Special Products

The article discusses the worldwide trend toward the production of continuous-cast slabs with a thickness greater than 350 mm. It is shown that the Russian economy needs to be able to produce such slabs, and several approaches to developing Russian-made continuous casters capable of making slabs of this thickness are proposed.
