Smelting of ferrosilicon manganese from unconventional silicate-oxide manganese raw material

  • Published:
Metallurgist Aims and scope

Research is performed for preparation of ore concentrates of unconventional silicate-oxide manganese ore preparation by an x-radiometric method. Study is performed in a SRF-2-100/20 separator with a size class −100+20 mm on a sample of silicate-oxide manganese ore of Ir-Nimiisk plateau. Standard ferrosilicate manganese grade MnS17 according to GOST 4756-91 is smelted from the concentrates obtained. The possibility is demonstrated of involving this form of raw material for smelting manganese alloys.
