The United Metallurgical Company has begun operation of the first casting-rolling complex in Russia that is designed chiefly for the production of coiled and uncoiled flat-rolled products that are to be used to make electric-welded pipe. A technology for operation of the complex has been developed and a commercial batch of 11-mm-thick plates of strength classes K52 and K56 has been produced for making pipes 1067 mm in diameter.
