Theoretical principles and energy parameters in ferrosilicon production with an increase in the electrode spacing and the distance from the electrodes to the bath

  • Published:
Metallurgist Aims and scope

An increase in the power of ferroalloy furnaces is accompanied by an increase in the current in the electrodes and a substantially smaller increase in voltage. There is also a deterioration in the power factor and electrical efficiency, the reason being a decrease in the electrical resistance of the furnace bath. A study showed that the power of furnaces can be increased by increasing bath resistance and voltage through increases in the electrode gap and spacing. These changes will also improve the energy parameters of furnace’s operation.
