Topometric measurement of the flatness of rolled products — the system TopPlan

  • Published:
Metallurgist Aims and scope

Abstract

The system TopPlan is successfully being used on plate hot-rolling mills’ hot-strip mills (in the finishing line and/or ahead of the coiler)’ cold-rolling mills’ and strip-finishing (galvanizing’ tin-coating’ trimming) lines. The system can also be used to obtain independent measurements in order to ensure the quality of products outside the production line. By projecting fringe patterns onto the product being rolled’ TopPlan — a topometric system for determining the flatness of sheet’ plate’ and strip — allows continuous three-dimensional monitoring of the height distribution over the entire length and width of the product. The measurement data are continuously recorded by a CCD camera. The reliable operation of the system in accordance with industrial standards guarantees a high degree of reliability in the production process.
