Abstract
One of the most important problems in modern metallurgy is ensuring the continuous (infinite) operation of metal-processing lines and equipment. Continuous electric-welded pipe production lines (EWPL) built by the Elektrostal’ Heavy Machinery Plant for making cylindrical tubes and shapes of low-alloy, medium-carbon, and stainless steels, copper, brass, and alloys of aluminum and titanium are equipped with butt-welding machines and pit-type, floor-mounted, or spiral loopers. Butt-welding machines and loopers of the indicated types are also installed in the strip-preparation lines of units used to make cored wire, cable sheating, and bent sections.
