Abstract
This article presents indices and results from the use of a new technology for reinforcing the water-proofing of cleaning facilities while they are in use. The technology employs a microdisperse sealant-sorbent. Use of the method at several metallurgical plants in different regions of the Russian Federation has led to permanent declines in filtration losses. The decreases have been as large as 75–80% for earthen structures and 100% for reinforced concrete installations. The degree of contamination of the underground water has been reduced 65–75%, and the cost of capital repairs to the cleaning facilities has dropped 60–65%.
