Influence of Chemical Composition on the Structure, Mechanical, and Corrosion Properties of Cast Alloys of the Al–Mg–Sc System

  • Published:
Materials Science Aims and scope

We study the influence of decrease in the magnesium content and alloying with scandium, zirconium, manganese, and chromium on the structure, phase composition, strength, plasticity, corrosion potential, and corrosion current in alloys of Al−Mg and Al−Mg−Sc systems obtained with the help of a magnetohydrodynamic foundry. The positive influence of lowering of the content of magnesium and replacement of manganese with chromium in alloys of the Al−Mg−Sc system is demonstrated.
