Residual Structural Stresses in Glass Bodies

  • Published:
Materials Science Aims and scope

A mathematical model for the quantitative description of the formation of free volume in glass bodies in the process of their inhomogeneous cooling is used to study the influence of the parameters of this process on the distribution of residual structural stresses in glass plates. It is shown that the maximal tensile stresses increase with the temperature of the onset of cooling and cooling rate.
