Intensification of diffusion nickel plating of 5KhNM steel

  • Published:
Materials Science Aims and scope

We have investigated the influence of iron powder added to a saturating mixture on the diffusion nickel plating of 5KhNM steel. It is shown that iron powder substantially decreases the migration of carbon from steel, due to which its decarburization and the number of inclusions in the diffusion layer decrease, refines the surface layers of samples, and intensifies the diffusion nickel plating.
