SHM of CFRP-structures with impedance spectroscopy and Lamb waves

Abstract

Impedance spectroscopy and application of Lamb waves are attractive methods for permanent monitoring of integrity in Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). Investigations of CFRP structures (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers) with embedded or attached piezoceramic elements are presented for both methods. Examples regard impact damage detection as well as estimation of influencing factors (e.g. degradation of contacts or piezoceramic) and important characteristics (e.g. generation, velocity and attenuation of Lamb waves).
