Abstract
Isothermal gasification runs of metallurgical coke in the temperature range of 1200 to 1350 K at carbon dioxide partial pressures between 0.025 and 0.100 MPa were carried out. A conventional kinetic calculation was performed, and a check on it was made. It was found that the conventional calculation process made no allowance for the effect of temperature on the formal reaction order ν. Therefore, the conventional kinetic equation needed improving. The modified kinetic equation is proposed and gives dependable values of Arrhenius parameters. The modified kinetic equation applies especially to the situation where the formal reaction order changes according to temperature.
