Abstract

Thorium(IV) was extracted from 1 × 10−2 M sodium malonate medium by using 5 × 10−2 M 2-octylaminopyridine in xylene. The extracted thorium(IV) was stripped with 5 × 10−1 M HNO3 from organic phase and determined by EDTA. Thorium(IV) was selectively extracted and separated from uranium, lanthanum, cerium, yttrium, zirconium, neodymium, samarium, palladium, ruthenium, molybdenum, europium, cadmium in binary and ternary mixtures and real samples such as monazite ore, gas mantles.
