Abstract

Radiosynovectomy (RSV) has been applied as an effective treatment to the patients with resistant synovitis for more than 50 years. In this research, 90Y-chitosan complex was developed as a new agent for use in RSV. 90Y was obtained from an electrochemical 90Y/90Sr generator. 90Y-chitosan complex was produced with radiochemical purity of higher than 99 % at the optimized condition. Extra-articular leakage of the complex was checked up to 72 h, which demonstrated excellent retention at the injection site. The complex showed significant characteristics which make it as a suitable agent for the management of synovitis.
