Abstract

Chitosan and Nylon 6 fiber were oxidized using potassium persulfate. Chitosan was then grafted onto Nylon 6 fiber. The obtained fabric was analyzed via total reflection infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. Finally, an antibacterial test was performed. The result showed that grafting chitosan that was oxidized by potassium persulfate onto the Nylon 6 fiber was feasible. Chitosan-grafted Nylon 6 samples were successfully fabricated. The maximum grafting rate was 1.58 %. The antibacterial rate of the fabric remained at around 90 % after being washed for 50 times.
