Abstract
We fabricate normally transparent type of polymer dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films, which are composed of nematic liquid crystals in anisotropic polymer network. The glass substrates of the films are treated with rubbing such that the polymer and liquid crystal molecules are plane parallel aligned in the sample cell. The liquid crystals used are 5CB and 7CB. The polymer is cured at a variety of UV wavelengths and intensities. The electro-optical properties of these PDLC films are reported. This type of transparent PDLC shows an improvement in the transparency of the clear state and a decrease in the driving voltage.
