Interaction of Temperature and Deformation in Collision of Rigid Body and Viscoplastic Rod of Finite Length

We consider the coupled problem of collision of a rigid body and a rod of finite length that move towards each other at constant velocities. Using a modified Karman–Polhausen method, we reduce the coupled problem under consideration to the Cauchy problem for a system of four nonlinear ordinary first order differential equations which is solved by the Runge–Kutta method. Numerical experiments are described.
