Kinetic Functional of Interacting Electrons: A Numerical Procedure and Its Statistical Interpretation

  • Published:
Journal of Statistical Physics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

The basic principles of a recently proposed numerical procedure for the derivation of the kinetic functional for interacting particles, is reviewed. Next, a step forward is done by mapping the quantum problem onto a classical one. This allows for a statistical interpretation of the results obtained which clarifies the possible physical meaning of the quantity calculated. The results suggest an interpretation of the interacting part of the kinetic functional as an index of the strength of the electron correlations of the system.
