The 37th International Conference on Solution Chemistry was held for the first time in Latin America in Colombia on July 26–29, 2022. The conference was organized by the Universidad de los Andes and the Universidad de América, both in Bogotá, chaired by Prof. Edgar F. Vargas (Universidad de los Andes, Colombia) and supported by IUPAC and Springer.

The conference covered the following topics: Solution thermodynamics, Electrochemical processes in solution, Ionic liquids, Biochemical processes in solution, Solubility phenomena and phase equilibria, Solution structures and dynamics, Supercritical fluids and solutions under extreme conditions, Colloids and interfaces, Computational solution chemistry, General solution chemistry and Industrial applications of solution chemistry.

The 37th ICSC was held in an online format due to pandemic and continued this successful series of conferences, following the 36th ICSC, held in Xining, China in 2019. The 37th ICSC was attended by scientists, researchers, and students from 18 countries represented all five continents. For four days, the attendees were able to exchange ideas and experiences freely and openly in the field of Solution Chemistry through 15 invited lectures. The plenary speakers were Glenn Hefer (Murdoch University, Australia), Limei Xu (Peking University, China), Nacer Idrissi (University of Lille, France). Richard Buchner (Regensburg University, Germany), Pál Jedlovszky (Eszterházy Károly University, Hungary), Earle Waghorne (University College Dublin, Ireland), Toshiyuki Takamuku (Saga University, Japan), Emiko Okamura (Himeji Dokkyo University, Japan), Gabriel Merino (Departamento de Física Aplicada, Centro de Investigacion y de Estudios Avanzados Unidad Mérida – México), Clara Magalhães (University of Lisbon, University of Aveiro, Portugal; UNSW, Australia), Marija Bešter-Rogač (University of Ljubljana, Slovenia), Ingmar Persson (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Sweden), Daniel T. Bowron (STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, UK), Roger M. Leblanc (University of Miami, USA), Louise J. Criscenti (Sandia National Laboratories, USA).

In addition, 34 oral talks and 39 flash presentations were given, and IUPAC representative Earle Waghorne gave a presentation on IUPAC activities.
