Abstract

High-temperature superconductors show great potential in power applications, but AC loss limits their large-scale application in industry. Therefore, accurate and real-time assessment of AC loss is important. In this thesis, a review of researches on fast AC loss measurements was presented. A digital compensation technique based on the compensation principle was proposed and a specific implementation was given. The method developed in this thesis performed AC loss measurements on a straight superconducting tape, while the previously established electrometric method based on coherent detection theory was used as a reference. The test results were in good agreement with the Norris analytical model, verifying the feasibility of the test method and demonstrating its real-time measurement capability.
