Abstract

A new method was designed and reported for preparation of ZSM-5 zeolite membrane covered on Cu/stainless steel catalyst. This is a dual functional material having the abilities of both selectivity and catalysis. A pretreatment process of anodic oxidation technique was employed to modify the stainless steel surface. Cu was deposited on the support by electrochemical deposition technique and then ZSM-5 zeolite membrane was covered on Cu/stainless steel catalyst via hydrothermal synthesis. Meanwhile, the influence of synthesis time and temperature was also investigated. X-Ray diffraction results and scanning electron microscope images proved that ZSM-5 zeolite membrane and copper had been successfully covered on the stainless steel support. Furthermore, ultrasonic vibration test was also carried out to study the stability of the material and it was found that the weight loss stabilized at 0.55 wt%. This research demonstrates a new method for combining zeolite membrane with metal catalyst and then fabricated into a structured support material. This method can be enlarged to prepare other zeolites and metal catalysts on stainless steel support.
