Experimental investigations on the directional diagram of a transmitter antenna located in ground

Abstract

The directional diagram of a transmitter antenna has been studied experimentally. The transmitter connected to a generator with a setup power and frequency was placed in ground to a depth of 1 m. Using a receiving set, the strength of the electric component of the transmitter-generated electromagnetic field was measured in two experiments: with the receiver placed on the surface and in a receiving areaway. Based on the comparison between the transmitting antenna directional diagrams obtained in the experiments and after the mathematical modeling, a conclusion has been drawn on the effect exerted by the electric properties of ground on the transmitter antenna directivity.
