Abstract

A method is described for the 3D survey of an open-pit side surface by using a laser scanner in order to develop a 3D digital model for identification of the hierarchical structure of geoblocks at a limestone deposit. The main principles of the laser scanning are explained, recommendations are given for the selection of the scan stations arrangement to survey a vertical open-pit side. The computer-aided scanning-data processing technique is presented for the graphical-analytical representation and system analysis of the experimental geomechanical information on the real rock mass.
