Abstract
High-Tc cuprates are characterized both by coexistence and competition of the spin and charge orders. We examine a simplified 2D model cuprate system where one of the on-site valence triplet states (or pseudospin \(S=1\) states) has a spin \(s=1/2\) degree of freedom. Depending on the value of the on-site correlation, inter-site density–density interaction, the spin exchange integral and the doping, the system shows different types of ground-state ordering. These include both the coexistence and competition of the spin and pseudospin ordering, for a weak and strong exchange coupling, respectively.
