Abstract

Two coordination polymers, [M(cbdc)(bipy)0.5(H2O)]n [M = Zn (1), Cd (2)]. (H2cbdc = 1,1-cyclobutane dicarboxylic acid, bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine), have been synthesized by using Zn(II)/Cd(II) acetate with cbdc and bipy ligands under hydrothermal conditions. Their structures have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, single-crystal X-ray crystallography and powder X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural and show a 3D pillared-layer network with (3,4)-connected InS topology. The luminescent properties of the complexes and the free ligand have been investigated.

Graphical Abstract

Two novel coordination polymers based on the flexible alicyclic dicarboxylic acid ligand 1,1-cyclobutane dicarboxylic acid (H2cbdc) ligand have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural and show a 3D pillared-layer network with (3,4)-connected InS topology. The luminescent properties of the complexes and the free ligand have been investigated.
