Open image in new windowThe Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers and Materials is honored to dedicate issue #1 of volume 23 (2013) to Professor Hiroshi Nishihara, a distinguished professor, researcher and pioneer in the field of synthesis and electrochemistry of conductive metal complex oligomers and polymers. Since Professor Nishihara’s research has made a strong impact on my own research activities and the research of many other scientists, I feel proud and honored to write this biography and dedication.

Hiroshi was born on March 21, 1955 in Kagoshima, Japan. He completed his Dr. Sci. in 1982 with Prof. Y. Sasaki at The University of Tokyo on reaction of dinitrogen complexes with hydridometal carbonyls. He was a Research Associate (1982–1990) of Prof. K. Aramaki’s group (Interfacial Chemistry) at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, and additionally studied as a Research Fellow (1987–1989) at the Prof. R.
