Abstract

The lower hybrid current drive (LHCD) system has been playing an important role in EAST experiments. In recent EAST experiment which lasts 4 months, a 2.45 G 4 MW LHCD system has been successfully applied in the practice. 20 continuous wave klystrons are the core components of the LHCD system. In LHCD, fast protection system and slow protection system are designed to protect klystrons together. Experiments have shown that the multiple protection systems can effectively enhance the safety of klystrons. The paper will describe the two protection systems in details and its components.
