Abstract
The simulations and design of pre-ionization system and ohmic heating (OH) coils of Alborz tokamak are presented. This study is based on solving circuit equations and 2-D finite element method (FEM). The results of pre-ionization simulation are applied as an initial condition of plasma parameters for OH discharge calculations. The outcomes are optimized to find out structural parameters of the central solenoid and the circuit elements of the related power supply. The peak currents of the plasma calculated by using of the two mentioned methods are about 2.4 × 104 and 2.2 × 104 A for circuit equation and FEM respectively.
