We are very pleased to announce that this issue of The Journal of Ethics contains a special collection of essays. The collection begins with an overview of his recent book, Death, Immortality, and Meaning in Life by John Martin Fischer, and is followed by critical essays from Travis Timmerman and August Gorman, and a response by Fischer. These essays explore a variety of topics, including the nature of death, freedom, and meaning in life, as well as their importance and value. In addition, the essays explore questions about the value of immortality, the Makropulos case, and the evidential support, if any, that near death experiences offer for the survival of death. Finally, we offer special thanks to our Associate Editor Justin Capes, who served as the guest editor for this collection.
