Computer Simulation of the Process of Filtration of Mine Waters on a Layer of Sand

  • Published:
Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics Aims and scope

Simulation of the technology of removal of highly dispersed solid impurities from industrial effluents using the sand filter has been carried out by the discrete-element method. Calculations of the formation of barrier and cake beds, of the filter reaching an operating regime, and of the degree of treatment of the liquid as a function of the size of impurity particles and their percentage in the mixture have been performed. The influence of the filter wall on the process of treatment of the liquid has been analyzed.
