This paper presents the results of investigations of the cavitation erosion of metals caused by pressure oscillations excited by means of a hydrodynamic oscillator in cylindrical tubes closed on one end in the absence of fluid flow in them. Intense cavitation zones were created in the region of the ends of tubes plugged with test pieces. It has been shown that the degree of cavitation erosion of the specimen material is determined by the oscillation amplitude and the frequency of nonlinear pressure oscillations in the tube. The maximum erosion rate of test specimens was observed under excitation of resonances of standing waves in the tubes.
