Abstract

This paper describes a green and environmentally friendly method for the synthesis Fe3O4 nanoparticles with the aid of Thymus kotschyanus extracte (water extract and hydro alchohol extract). Besides, two types of T. kotschyanus extractes used as the surfactant to investigate their effcet on the magnetic properties and crystaline size of final products. The as-synthesized products were characterized by XRD, SEM, VSM, FT-IR, and EDS. Magnetic and morphological studies demonstrate that green surfactant has effective impact on the morphology and magnetic properties of final products. The application of as the synthesized magnetic nanoparticles as the photocatalysts for the decolorization of methyl orange (MO) and methylene blue (MB) under visible (Vis) light irradiation was evaluated. Photocatalysts results demonstrate the positive effect of T. kotschyanus extracte to increase the photocatalyst yield.
