Photoluminescence of CaAl2O4:Eu3+ Nanoluminophores over Wide Intervals of Temperature and Laser Excitation Level

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

Excitation and photoluminescence spectra of CaAl2O4:Eu3+ nanoluminophores were studied over wide intervals of temperature from 10 to 300 K and laser excitation level from 40 to 2.3·103 kW/cm2. Photoluminescence spectra of CaAl2O4:Eu3+ had the shape of narrow lines and were located at 550–750 nm in the visible spectral region. The position and shape of the photoluminescence spectra of the investigated nanopowders were extremely stable at high levels of laser excitation up to 2.3·103 kW/cm2 at a constant luminescence efficiency up to 60 kW/cm2. The photoluminescence efficiency dropped reversibly if the excitation level was increased further. The threshold of an irreversible drop in the luminescence efficiency was not reached.
