Group representation of wave transformation in crystals

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

It is shown that one can easily and uniformly represent the propagation and nonlinear transformations of electromagnetic and ultrasonic radiation in crystals and find a direct relationship of conical refraction with caustic formation, soliton generation, and crystal symmetry based on continuous group theory. An analogy with the description of the interaction and transformation in the theory of elementary particles and in relativistic cosmology is used.
