Erratum to: Extraction protocols for the quantification of phycobilins in aqueous phytoplankton extracts

The equation for the calculation of the phycobilin concentrations in extracts published in the main body of the manuscript contains an error. The correct version of this equation is as follows:

$$ c=\frac{A}{{\varepsilon d}}\times MW\times \frac{{{V_{Buffer }}}}{{{V_{Sample }}}}\times {10^6} $$

where ε and MW are the molar extinction coefficients (phycoerythrin, 2.41 × 10⁶ L mol⁻¹ cm⁻¹; phycocyanin, 1.9 × 10⁶ L mol⁻¹ cm⁻¹) and molecular weight of the phycobilins (phycoerythrin, 240,000 g mol⁻¹; phycocyanin, 264,000 g mol⁻¹), and where d is the path length of the cuvette, and V_Sample and V_Buffer are the volume of the sample and buffer, respectively.
