Plagiarism incident reporting and their processing protocols differ greatly between institutions, but their primary goal is to establish a single standard approach to dealing with academic dishonesty that is understood by all stakeholders in the process (Rodafinos et al. 2016). Specific training on how to initiate PIRs would supplement the development of written protocols and could be delivered as part of a plagiarism-detection presentation.
