Abstract
This study aimed to test a theoretical model of self-efficacy applied to the context of professional choice, verifying the sources of self-efficacy as predictors of self-efficacy beliefs and self-efficacy beliefs as antecedents of vocational exploratory behavior. A total of 388 high school students from public and private schools in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, participated. The professional choice self-efficacy sources scale (EFAEP), the professional choice self-efficacy scale (EAE-EP) and the vocational exploration scale (EEV)—high school version—were applied. The self-efficacy beliefs were predicted by sources of self-efficacy. Other results are discussed based on the literature.
Résumé
Les antécédents et les conséquences de l’efficacité personnelle dans le choix professionnel: Une étude avec des étudiants Brésiliens. Cette étude teste un modèle théorique d’efficacité personnelle appliqué contexte du choix professionnel. Ce modèle vérifie aussi dans quelle mesure les sources d’efficacité personnelle prédisent les croyances sur l’efficacité personnelle, et dans quelle mesure ces dernières prédisent à leur tour les comportements vocationnels exploratoires. Un total de 388 lycéens d’écoles publiques et privées de l’état de Sao Paulo au Brésil ont participé. Le professional choice self-efficacy sources scale (EFAEP), le professional choice self-efficacy scale (EAE-EP), et le vocational exploration scale (EEV)—dans sa version lycéenne—ont été utilisés. Les croyances sur l’efficacité personnelle ont été prédites sur la base des sources d’efficacité personnelle. D’autres résultats sont discutés selon la littérature.
Zusammenfassung
Ursachen und Folgen der Selbstwirksamkeit in der Berufswahl: Eine Studie mit brasilianischen Studenten. Die vorliegende Studie zielte darauf ab, ein theoretisches Modell der Selbstwirksamkeit zu testen, das im Kontext der Berufswahl angewandt wurde, wobei die Quellen der Selbstwirksamkeit als Prädiktoren für Selbstwirksamkeitsüberzeugungen und diese wiederum als Ursache des beruflichen Erkundungsverhaltens überprüft wurden. Insgesamt nahmen 388 Gymnasiasten aus öffentlichen und privaten Schulen in São Paulo, Brasilien, teil. Dabei wurden die professional choice self-efficacy sources scale (EFAEP), die professional choice self-efficacy scale (EAE-EP) sowie die vocational exploration scale (EEV)—Sekundarschulversion—angewendet. Dabei konnten die Selbstwirksamkeitsüberzeugungen durch die Quellen der Selbstwirksamkeit vorhergesagt werden. Weitere Ergebnisse werden auf der Grundlage der Literatur diskutiert.
Resumen
Antecedentes y consecuencias de la autoeficacia en la elección profesional: Un estudio con estudiantes brasileños. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo testar un modelo teórico de autoeficacia aplicado al contexto de la elección profesional, verificando las fuentes de la autoeficacia como predictores de las creencias de la autoeficacia y las creencias de la autoeficacia como antecedentes del comportamiento exploratorio profesional. Han participado un total de 388 estudiantes de secundaria de colegios públicos y privados del estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Se aplican la Escala de Fuentes de Autoeficacia de la Elección Profesional (EFAEP), la Escala de Autoeficacia de la Elección Profesional (EAE-EP) y la Escala de Exploración Profesional (EEV)—versión de la escuela secundaria. Creencias de la autoeficacia se predicen en base a las fuentes de la autoeficacia. Otros resultados se discuten sobre la base de la literatura.
