Repeated judgements of educational interest

Abstract

This paper presents three case studies of 60 judgements of interest in a course that was described using the six Holland vocational interest types. Results indicated that the level of personal interest was idiosyncratic and unlikely to be elicited with any certainty until after 30 or more exposures to vocational situations. The explanatory value of the Holland factors varied substantially. This approach offered a diagnostic framework for the detailed assessment of educational-vocational interest.

Jugements répétés sur les intérêts scolaires. Cet article présente trois études de cas comportant 60 déclarations relatives à l’intérêt pour un cours décrit à partir des six types d’intérêt vocationnel de Holland. Les résultats montrent que le niveau d’intérêt personnel est idiosyncrasique et peu susceptible d’être mis à jour avec quelque certitude en-deçà de 30 expositions ou plus à des situations vocationnelles. La valeur explicative des facteurs de Holland varie de façon substantielle. Cette approche offre un cadre diagnostique pour l’évaluation détaillée des intérêts scolaires-professionnels.

Wiederholte Einschätzungen von Bildungsinteressen. Dieser Artikel präsentiert 3 Fallstudien über die Durchführung von je 60 Interessenseinschätzungen in einer Serie die auf der Grundlage der sechs Interessentypen nach Holland beschrieben wird. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Ausprägungen der persönlichen Interessen zufällig und nur mit sehr geringer Wahrscheinlichkeit entscheidungsrelevant waren, solange die Probanden nicht Erfahrungen in mindestens 30 beruflichen Situationen gemacht hatten. Dieser Ansatz bietet einen diagnostischen Rahmen für die detaillierte Beurteilung von bildungs-und berufsbezogenen Interessen.

Juicios Repetidos de Interés Educativo. En este artículo se presentan tres estudios de caso sobre 60 juicios de interés en un curso que fue descrito utilizando los seis tipos de intereses vocacionales de Holland. Los resultados indicaron que el nivel de interés personal era idiosincrásico y con pocas probabilidades de manifestarse con certeza hasta haber sido expuesto a más de 30 situaciones vocacionales. El valor explicativo de los factores de Holland varió considerablemente. Este enfoque ofrece un marco adecuado para el diagnóstico detallado de los intereses educativo-vocacionales.
