The 13th Asian Thermophysical Properties Conference (ATPC2022) took place in Sendai, Japan as an online conference from September 26 to 30, 2022, chaired by Prof. Hiroyuki Fukuyama of Tohoku University. ATPC is one of the three major worldwide conferences on thermophysical properties, the other two of which are the European Conference on Thermophysical Properties (ECTP) and the Symposium on Thermophysical Properties (STP) in the United States. ATPC has been held every three years in Asian countries since 1986. ATPC2022 had approximately 350 participants from 17 countries, giving 184 oral and 29 poster presentations in 17 organized sessions including 3 plenary lectures, 16 keynote lectures, and 30 invited lectures.

This conference covered a variety of research fields related to thermophysical properties from bio-, energy- and environmental materials to electronics and MEMS devices, at scales ranging from nano to space, along with new measurement techniques, databases, and standards. ATPC2022 provided opportunities for the attendees to exchange the latest advancements in both experimental and theoretical studies of thermophysical properties.

This special issue of the International Journal of Thermophysics comprises 8 original high-quality research papers presented at this conference. All the papers in this special issue have undergone a standard review process of International Journal of Thermophysics.

The editors would like to express our gratitude to all the authors for their excellent papers and all the reviewers for their constructive comments. We would also like to thank all the relevant committee members of ATPC2022 for their dedication and support.
