Search for the Optimal Structural Solution of the Pressure System with the Surge Tank of the Bokang-Baling HPP

An applied study was carried out to find the optimal design solution for a pressure system with a surge tank of the Bokang-Baling HPP. In the course of the study, universal characteristics of the selected turbine were obtained, and the processes occurring in the turbine and in the surge tank were determined. The selection of the optimal solution for the surge tank was made on the basis of a technical and economic comparison of the options for the selected series of surge tanks. Based on the results of the comparison, an analysis of the results obtained was made and the optimal option was selected from the condition of the smallest volume and the fulfillment of the technical requirements for this design. Recommendations for further research on this issue are given.
