Contribution of the VNIIG IM. B. E. Vedeneeva to the Design, Construction, and Operation of the St. Petersburg Flood Protection Barrier

  • Published:
Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

The results of integrated studies conducted by the the VNIIG im. B. E. Vedeneeva for the St. Petersburg Flood Protection Barrier (FPB) are reviewed. These results include solutions to various problems that arose during the construction, design, and operation of the FPB, such as the layout and hydraulics of structures, selection of concrete compositions, slope protection of protective dams, justification of winter operation modes for the lift gate of the navigation pass C-2, stability of the floating gate of the navigation pass C-1 in the presence of water level differences, justification of the technology for the construction of protective dams, and assessment of the reliability of the gates.
